Vies et morts d'Irene Lepic (Lifes and deathes of Irene Lepic) is the third novel of Mehdi Belhaj Kacem. But don't try to find it in English language (sorry for american people), nobody has actually published it.

This book deals with the young gothic girl's life in Paris, at the beginning of the eighties. Lost in this city, she tries to find her way in the gothic movement and the following people she thinks really foolish and dirt.

the gothic guys are apathic, lazily untidy,...
girls shake their stupidity everywhere...:
every new one arriving in the big family undergoes
a moral ritual as to feel her complete ignorance

But she likes, loves these people, cause she can herself dive into this spasmodic envelop that looks like her.
And this drowning in the gothic world is a search of her own mind and body.

I'm very sorry to not speak english as well as I would have to and talking about this book seems to me very hard, even in french. Gothic is no the main theme, but it is the perfect backgroung for a young girl who wants to know what she is.
